A Course in Miracles, also referred to as ACIM, is a 1976 book channelled by Helen Schucman. A Course In Miracles (ACIM) is a unique spiritual self-study program designed to awaken us to the truth of our oneness with God and Love. It is a curriculum for those seeking to achieve spiritual transformation. The underlying premise is that the greatest “miracle” is the act of simply gaining a full “awareness of love’s presence” in one’s own life.
Transformation is achieved by learning to heal all of our relationships through the inspired practice of forgiveness.
A Course in Miracles – often abbreviated ACIM or simply called the Course – is a complete self-study spiritual thought system.
The book is a three-volume curriculum consisting of:
- the Text
- Workbook for Students, and
- Manual for Teachers.
ACIM teaches that the way to universal love and peace —or remembering God— is by undoing guilt through forgiving others.
The Course thus focuses on the healing of relationships and making them holy.
A Course in Miracles also emphasizes that it is but one version of the universal curriculum, of which there are “many thousands.”
Consequently, even though the language of the Course is that of traditional Christianity, it expresses a non-sectarian, non-denominational spirituality. A Course in Miracles, therefore, is a universal spiritual teaching, not a religion.
The Foundation for Inner Peace (FIP)
The Foundation for Inner Peace (FIP) publishes the only complete Course as authorized by its scribes and has sponsored its translation into 27 different languages.
The Voice that dictated the Course to Dr. Helen Schucman specifically assigned to this Foundation the task of “publishing, distributing and discussing” A Course In Miracles.
Foundation for A Course in Miracles
The Foundation for A Course in Miracles is dedicated to preserving the teachings of Dr. Kenneth Wapnick on A Course In Miracles.
Kenneth taught and wrote about A Course in Miracles for more than 35 years, authoring more than 30 books, and producing over 225 audio and video recordings of his classes and lectures. He worked exclusively with Helen Schucman, scribe of the Course, for well over a year preparing it for publication, remaining close to her for life. Of this relationship, which was more like a “bond,” he wrote: “Helen and I shared a deep love for one another, and for Jesus in whose love we knew we were joined, and on behalf of whose Course we had come together.”
