I enjoy reading 365 Tao: Daily Meditations by Deng Ming-Dao daily. It helps me to discover the Tao in my daily life.

It is often one my first readings every morning before I get out of bed. It is always available to me via Kindle on my android phone. It is also used by all of my students and many of my clients.

The best way to describe 365 Tao: Daily Meditations is to use the words of the author Deng Ming-Dao.

When I wrote this book, I set a simple question for myself: “If Taoism is so great, shouldn’t I be able to find evidence of it every day?”

I had studied breathing exercises, martial arts, and meditation, I had read many books, and I had visited temples. But everything Taoist seemed to be from some long-gone dynasty or had taken place in some far-off location. What was Taoism when placed in contemporary settings and faced with contemporary problems?

I set myself the task of finding at least one experience each day that revealed the Tao. Of course, I understood the assertion that everything is Taoist, but I wanted a direct perception or even an epiphany. So for 365 days, I followed that task—looking, discovering, and writing.

365 Tao is my most popular book by far, and it has had a life I never expected. It has been used by people in recovery, people seeking daily inspiration, and people simply interested in delving into Taoism in a gradual way.
