An Involuntary Spy: A GMO Thriller by Kenneth Eade

This spy thriller has it all with a GMO twist. Our food supply has been put at risk through corruption involving the CIA, Monsanto, Whitehouse, EPA, FDA and more. [easyazon_link identifier=”1492909777″ locale=”US” tag=”richardewardcom-20″]An Involuntary Spy: A GMO Thriller[/easyazon_link] by Kenneth Eade was a great read and also very informative with a lots of unnerving factual information about GMOs.

I just finished reading [easyazon_link identifier=”1492909777″ locale=”US” tag=”richardewardcom-20″]An Involuntary Spy[/easyazon_link] by Kenneth Eade, a two book series, and was captivated from beginning to end.

An Involuntary Spy is a spy thriller about a corporate scientist with conscience, a normal guy who is forced into being a spy to inform the world that the way GMO foods are being designed and produced are poisoning all of us. It also has a romantic storyline.

Credited With Shining The Light

[easyazon_link identifier=”1492909777″ locale=”US” tag=”richardewardcom-20″]An Involuntary Spy[/easyazon_link] by Kenneth Eade, published in 2013, been credited with shining the light on the “revolving door” between the agricultural and biotech industries such as Monsanto and government regulatory agencies such as the EPA and FDA. And of course the heads of these agencies are appointed by the President of the United States. This has been going on for decades.

[easyazon_link identifier=”1492909777″ locale=”US” tag=”richardewardcom-20″]An Involuntary Spy[/easyazon_link] is the story of Seth Rogan, a biologist for Germinat, the fictional biotech company, which, in the novel, is the largest one in the world.

Rogan was comfortable in his job until, while working on a project for the company’s genetically engineered (GMO) foods, he uncovered secret reports that had been hidden from the public by the company and the government.

He is charged with espionage, and flees to Russia, which he determines is the only safe place from where he can tell his story.

Solid Research in GMO Science

Kenneth Eade provides solid research in GMO science, government and international affairs to weave a terrifying story about how our food supply is being manipulated.

Book Review Reprinted from San Francisco Book Review

Seth Rogan is a dedicated nose-to-the-grindstone genetic biologist whose stellar lab and research skills at Germinat, a chemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation, earn him an opportunity to do a peer reviewed independent study on a new corn product called Bt corn. He has no problems with the fact that the corn has been engineered by using a gene found in the soil bacteria, Bacillus thuringienis (Bt).

Seth considers it a bit strange, though, that his report will be sent to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which has jurisdiction over pesticides not food.

However, when his lab test results consistently prove that this new product is unfit for human consumption and its long-term effects on the ecosystem are nothing less than devastating, he has no choice but to submit these undesirable findings to the company.

When Germinat tables his report as non-conclusive, Seth is determined to find out what the company’s real motives are behind their genetically modified organism (GMO) product.

Little does he know that the pursuit for truth may cost him his life.

“Focusing on your own narrow needs creates apathy, which holds no benefits for anyone. The bait on a hook is always free, and sometimes, if you’re lucky, you can take it without being caught, but you will always be a puppet on someone else’s line if you don’t care enough about the big picture and let your tiny voice be heard. When it is combined with the tiny voices of millions of others, that is the real power.”

Seeking asylum in Russia under the protection of Yuri, a Russian spy, Seth takes on a new guise, George Aimers, and a new job as an English teacher in a local University. Now that life has calmed down a bit, he meets the beautiful Natasha. Though Seth maintains his altered persona and keeps his collection of highly classified information undisclosed, he, nonetheless, hopelessly falls in love with her. Their romance slowly brews while unhackneyed events and more spies creep up to nab Seth unaware. It is a matter of time whether he will be able to successfully disclose his guarded documentation to the American public, or be captured and eventually killed as a traitor to his country.

A Work Of Fiction, But The Threat Is Real

Best-selling author Kenneth Eade is not in the business of writing books purely for entertainment. An outspoken critic for pesticides and genetically modified food – a highly critical issue in today’s news – Eade has produced a story that he states “is a work of fiction, but the threat is real.”

About an Ordinary Citizen

Written in third person, [easyazon_link identifier=”B015FUB5PS” locale=”US” tag=”richardewardcom-20″]An Involuntary Spy[/easyazon_link] is about an ordinary citizen whose indomitable efforts to expose the truth about GMOs suddenly turns him into a “wanted man” by the U.S. government.

Eade’s choice in designing a highly intelligent, yet socially awkward, character is a perfect complement to the many whistleblowers who have graced history over the years. Much like Seth Rogen, these people are not James Bond figures, but simple, everyday folk who have risked their lives and, as Seth puts it, exposed “reports to help my fellow Americans, not to betray them.”

Eade’s use of alternating chapters between Seth’s altered life and the events that lead up to it – as well as plethora of unnerving factual information about GMOs – is not only a clever literary tool, but it also keeps readers entirely engaged.

Sunday was a FanTastic Day

Sunday was a FanTastic Day because I picked up a 2 Speed 7″ Personal Soft Blade Table Top Fan from Hogg Home Hardware on Sherbrooke St. W. in Westmount, Quebec.

This fan is fantastic. 🙂

I have been living out of 2 suitcases since returning from Beijing, China to Toronto, Ontario at the end of 2012, and I have been moving around, so every time I change cities I pickup another fan or two from Home Hardware. No room in my bags for fans no matter how small they are.

I like to have constant air circulation.

I love the Basic / Chinook fan because it is whisper quiet and moves a lot of air. It has two speeds.

Chinook Fan Model 707CHWBX

The fan is manufactured by Caframo a Canadian under the brand name Chinook and available from many outlets including Amazon.com, Walmart, and so forth. There are some very high prices on amazon for this product from various resellers.

It is sold through Home Hardware as the 2 Speed 7″ Personal Soft Blade Table Top Fan – Item #3828-157 for $CAN39.99.

Caframo

Caframo is a manufacturing company located in the beautiful Georgian Bluffs, Ontario, Canada on the shore of Georgian Bay.

They have been in business since 1955. Caframo designs, develops and manufactures high quality fans, heaters, laboratory stirrers and accessories to a wide range of North American and International markets.

I really like this product manufactured in Canada by a Canadian company.

If you are looking for a small, quiet, durable desktop fan the Basic / Chinook may be just perfect for you.

The Brain That Changes Itself by Dr. Norman Doidge

This is a wonderful book. If you or loved one or a friend have ever suffered from head injuries or head trauma, as I have, then you will want to read The Brain That Changes Itself by Dr. Norman Doidge.
Richard Ward

Norman Doidge, M.D., a psychiatrist and researcher, set out to investigate neuroplasticity and met both the brilliant scientists championing it and the people whose lives they’ve transformed.

The Brain that Changes Itself by Norman Doidge

The Brain That Changes Itself is a riveting collection of case histories detailing the astonishing progress of people whose conditions had long been dismissed as hopeless. We see a woman born with half a brain that rewired itself to work as a whole, a woman labeled retarded who cured her deficits with brain exercises and now cures those of others, blind people learning to see, learning disorders cured, IQs raised, aging brains rejuvenated, painful phantom limbs erased, stroke patients recovering their faculties, children with cerebral palsy learning to move more gracefully, entrenched depression and anxiety disappearing, and lifelong character traits altered.

“You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to read it — just a person with a curious mind.” — Globe & Mail

Doidge takes us into terrain that might seem fantastic. We learn that our thoughts can switch our genes on and off, altering our brain anatomy. Scientists have developed machines that can follow these physical changes in order to read people’s thoughts, allowing the paralyzed to control computers and electronics just by thinking. We learn how people of average intelligence can, with brain exercises, improve their cognition and perception in order to become savant calculators, develop muscle strength, or learn to play a musical instrument, simply by imagining doing so.

“Only a few decades ago, scientists considered the brain to be fixed or ‘hardwired’ and considered most forms of brain damage, therefore, to be incurable. Dr. Doidge, an eminent psychiatrist and researcher, was struck by how his patients’ own transformations belied this and set out to explore the new science of neuroplasticity by interviewing both scientific pioneers in neuroscience, and patients who have benefited from neuro-rehabilitation. Here he describes in fascinating personal narratives how the brain, far from being fixed, has remarkable powers of changing its own structure and compensating for even the most challenging neurological conditions. Doidge’s book is a remarkable and hopeful portrait of the endless adaptability of the human brain.”
— Oliver Sacks

Using personal stories from the heart of this neuroplasticity revolution, Dr. Doidge explores the profound implications of the changing brain for understanding the mysteries of love, sexual attraction, taste, culture and education in an immensely moving, inspiring book that will permanently alter the way we look at human possibility and human nature.

Lucid and absolutely fascinating…engaging, educational and riveting. It satisfies, in equal measure, the mind and the heart. Doidge is able to explain current research in neuroscience with clarity and thoroughness. He presents the ordeals of the patients about whom he writes- -people born with parts of their brains missing, people with learning disabilities, people recovering from strokes- -with grace and vividness. In the best medical narratives — and the works of Doidge… join that fraternity — the narrow bridge between body and soul is traversed with courage and eloquence.

Become A Magnet To Money Through The Sea Of Unlimited Consciousness

Michele Blood has just published with Bob Proctor a fascinating and life changing book and audiobook Become A Magnet To Money Through The Sea Of Unlimited Consciousness. There are two books in one volume that could be the magic lamp for which you have been searching!

Read and learn how to…
Become A Magnet To Money
by Bob Proctor and Michele Blood

and

And learn how to raise your awareness and enter…
The Sea of Unlimited Consciousness!
by Michele Blood

This book holds powerful lessons to help you become a wealthy independent soul.

If you have been on the path and feel that your spiritual studies and practices are no longer working this book may illuminate you, that is the intention.

Every book of true spiritual wisdom we have read has brought about some measure of higher awareness to our consciousness, what might be called the melting down of ice or peeling of an onion to who we really are.

Each book, seminar, or spiritual experience has been taken into consciousness and has prepared us for the next spiritual realization.

As we awaken more to the Truth of who we really, we begin to live in two worlds: one of Light and one of the so called real world. This can be a challenge to an open heart. Those who have had a true spiritual awakening, discover coming back down to earth where bills have to be paid and business conducted to be very challenging and even painful.

It changed my life. Great book, with a holistic approach to success and abundance. In my life as a scientist and also as a student for many years of eastern philosophy I found this to be the most simple explanation of great, timeless, spiritual truths about success and consciousness.
