In this book, you’ll explore the rich mythology and cultural significance of wind, and discover a powerful system to utilize the subtle, healing energies in your life.

Winds of Spirit will teach you how to connect with your true inner self, use your body as a compass, and receive life-changing messages from nature.

Based on an ancient sacred technique used by farmers, shamans and sailors, this system will show you how to navigate your personal path, providing insight into how to manage the wind patterns and shifting conditions affecting you.

You will also learn how to invoke wind deities –gods and goddesses from around the world –and the cardinal winds from the four quadrants of the sky, each of which relate to the inner landscape of your life: mind, emotions, body, and spirit.

By working with the omnipresent winds in your life, you can restore harmony and balance, heal the body, and inspire creativity.

Recommended Reading and Audio in Shamanism

Following are my Recommended Reading and Audio in Shamanism.

I have read the books and listened to the audio listed.

Shamananism has been practiced worldwide for some 10,000 years although the names of the practice, and the practitioners, is specific to the culture in which it is found.

Recommended Reading and Audio in Shamanism

My shamanic practice in my daily life is based on Core Shamanism, Celtic Shamanism, and shamanic practices from my teachers from other cultures including Mexico, Zimbabwe, Canada, the UK, and the USA, that they have shared with me either directly or through the books and audios listed on this page.

Celtic Shamanism in particular resonated with me as my ancestral background is Scottish, Welsh, English, Russian, and Finnish.

Core Shamanism

As my shamanic practice is based on Core Shamanism I recommend beginning with two books by Michael Harner the founder of the The Foundation for Shamanic Studies:

  1. The Way of the Shaman, and his follow-up
  2. Cave and Cosmos.

These two books will give you a solid insight into the history of shamanism and Core Shamanism as well as providing you with instructions on how to begin to add shamanic practice to your life.

Shamans & Shamanic Practitioners

Shamans and Shamanic Practitioners can be found worldwide. As with most things in life connecting with people who have a strong lineage and ethical outlook can be challenging. I recommend visiting the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and the Society for Shamanic Practice to connect with a shamanic teacher.

I have been blessed to receive shamanic teachings directly from a number of Shamans including Jeannette McCullough, Jose Stevens, Sharon Van Raalte, Martha Lucier, Renee Baribeau, and Mandaza Kandemwa.

I am also including Shamans here whose works I have studied.

My Teachers, Guides & Mentors

Teachers, guides, mentors and coaches appear in many forms and often when least expected.

Many times you never meet them but read their words, listen to an audio or see a video. Or perhaps meet one of their students who introduces you to their work.

I have listened to many teachers over the years and heard absolutely nothing that they said. In one ear and out the other. I wasn’t ready to hear what they had to say or teach me. But years later something will lead me to them and I am ready.
