What I learned at Loyola College Communication Arts (Comm Arts), Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec continues to influence my thinking to this day. Comm Arts is now the Department of Communication Studies, in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Founded by Jack O’Brien SJ in 1965 Comm Arts was the first university department in Canada to study the art of communication.
Today the Department of Communication Studies offers undergraduate and graduate programs exploring a wide range of interests in media analysis, critique and creation. Central to its programs of study is the integration of knowledge based in the humanities and liberal arts, the social sciences, and media practice.
An amazing group of teachers helped me to see the world from a new and exciting perspective including:
- Denis Diniacopoulos – I dedicated the repubishing of BEYOND MOTIVATION by James T. McCay to Denis.
- Dennis Murphy
- Gail Valaskakis
- John Buell
- John O’Brien
- Marc Gervais
I was very fortunate to have been accepted into this program.
What a lifelong blessing the experience continues to be.
